Desperate

I tried to create a new, single user profile for me and my
wife. In doing so I deleted the old and requested that
all user files be saved to the desktop of the new. NONE
of the files saved. In short, we lost our honeymmon
pictures, among other things, and she is devastated.

I tried a system restore but it did not restore the
files. Is there anything I can do or are they lost?

Try contacting a group like ontrack.com, they do data recovery.
