Greetings Katrina:
These are some mistakes you probably made that allowed the virus to get in
your system.
Had not enabled the XP Firewall.
Had not updated your antivirus
Had not updated your system
Close all programs, open the Task Manager, in the Processes tab, under CPU
the virus should be the only process running... select it and End Process.
After you know what virus it is, go here and do an index search for
information relative to the virus and to know how how to get rid of it.

I apparently have a virus that is attacking my desktop. I can not view or
otherwise activate my desktop icons or start button. The only time I have
been able to view my desktop is when I shut down my computer. It flashes
breifly and then powers down. I can see that their is some type of warning
message but, I'm unable to read it. My right click buttion on my mouse
produces no results, however, I can use ctrl, alt, delete and use the task
manager. My function keys are also unavailable. Your help in this matter is
greatly appreciated.
