Desktop Sidebar?

I have a blue side menu/bar on my desktop that just appeared there (or may be
a result of my wife on the computer). It has the menu headings 'FOLDER
TASKS', 'OTHER PLACES' and 'DETAILS' just as it does if you open a folder
like my docs or my pics. It has shifted all of my icons over and the ones on
the right side of the screen, I can't even get to, to drag them back in view.
I can't figure out how to fix the problem. Please help!

Right click your taskbar or THAT bar and see if there's a "toolbars"
category. If so, note if there's an extra toolbar checked. If so, uncheck
it. If not, someone will be along shortly to help you... :-)

Hi,

Common issue. This is a result from changing desktop properties, etc. Easy
fix, though:

Remove Common Tasks from the Desktop (Line 15)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Is there any way to remove windows sidebar completely from you computer?
I can't find it and I've looked all over. I like a bare-boned computer with
only my stuff on it.
Thanks in advance,

Are you asking about Vista's sidebar? This is a Windows XP newsgroup,
and Vista questions are better addressed in a Vista newsgroup.
