desktop shortcuts

this may seem like a stupid question with an easy answer
but, how do you delete shortcuts from the desktop? these
icons are plaguing my desktop and i want them off now!

Right click the appropriate desktop icon and select 'Delete'.

A shortcut is a file and the desktop is a place like other
places. You can delete a file from anyplace in the usual ways:

1. Single-click it and press the delete key

2. Right-click it and choose Delete

3. Drag it to the recycle bin.
