Desktop Shortcuts

I have shortcut icons on my desktop arranged in groups. If I change screen
resolution and then return to my normal settinf (1280 x 1024) the icons are
scrambled. In some instances after restart they are scrambled. Any way to
lock my arangement in. Windows XP SE2.

Yes, there's lots of icon layout management programs. One of the best is PC Magazine's WinTidy. You need to buy a subscription to
download it from their website, but the program itself is free so you can easily find a copy on the Internet.

I've got that; it's a DLL from Microsoft. It's not bad but doesn't automatically restore the icons when the resolution changes, you
have to do it manually. There's also Jamie O'Connell's "DeskTop Restore" which does the same thing, and again doesn't restore
automatically, neither does CFI's ShellToys XP's tool. In fact WinTidy is one of the few that does. Another tool (also freeware)
that can save and automatically restore icons one resolution change is SillySot's Iconoid which also does a whole lot more, I highly
recommend it.

Thanks again Alex. I have already downloaded Icon Restore but I will try
wintidy and probably sillysot.

WinTidy is a FAR better product.

It's great for desktop layout icon management, but Iconoid is great for desktop icon appearance management. Both freeware too. ;)
