Desktop Shortcut Malfunction

Problem just started
When I click a desktop shortcut I get the msg "Confirm Delete" . I cannot
cancel or close the msg box.

I can can open applications from the quick launch taskbar, start menu, or
from the programs without problem; just desktop shortcuts affected.

Any help appreciated

Did you make sure your system malwares/virus free?.
