Desktop shortcut for an ntbackup job

B

Brian

Howdy All,

I want to create a shortcut on the desktop that can simply be double clicked
to run a backup job for ntbackup.

I have tried, but when I create the shortcut it just flashes the backup
utility on the screen and nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Brian

I've tried that, but I get the same result

Go to the backup, schedule the job, and when you are done, open the
scheduler, and drag the job to the desktop.

Do this:
- Open the Task Scheduler.
- Open the backup task you created.
- Use Ctrl+C to copy the whole command line.
- Click Start / Run / cmd {OK}
- Do this:
Press Alt+Space bar
Tap the letter E
Tap the letter P
Press the Enter key
- Report exactly what you see
- Paste the backup command line into your reply

Pegasus,

This is what I get when I do that:
C:\WINNT\system32\ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\Documents and
Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows
NT\NTBackup\data\Backup.bks" /a /d "Set created 10/28/2005 at 7:54 AM" /v:no
/r:no /rs:no /hc:blush:ff /m incremental /j "Backup" /l:s /f
"\\server1\BACKUPS\Brian_BU.bkf"

Fine, that's the command line. Now tell us what happens
when you press the Enter key.

Sorry should have been more detailed:
copy the line in the schedules job into a file called anything.bat on your
desktop.
