Desktop nuisance

Some how my kids got a picture on the desktop that I can
not remove. It is titled "What's her face .com". It
consumes about one third of the screen and I when I click
on it I only get desktop properties.

I've looked everywhere for the file and can't find it.

I've looked in all the user/doc-settings files, desktop
files and have looked in the syseditor for anything
similar.

I searched my computer on *what* and *face* even viewing
hidden files and deleted what I did find but upon restart,
the stupid thing reappeared.

Any suggestions?

Try right clicking on the desktop, and clicking "properties". Under the
desktop tab, the "background" area, click "none" or choose a different
picture.

Pictures on the desktop would be in either of these two folders:\

C:\Documents and Settings\your user name here\My Documents\My Pictures
C:\windows\web\wallpaper
C:\Documents and Settings\your user name here\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

(this last folder is a hidden folder so you have to have hidden folders set
to show in explorer, folder options)

Find the wall paper and delete it. Also right click desktop, properties,
desktop tab, choose a different wallpaper.

Right click desktop>properties>desktop tab>customize
button>web tab>highlight the .com and then click the
delete on the right and then apply and that should do it.
You can then click any background you want on the main
desktop tab and then the position button any way you want-
I have it set to stretch- and then click apply and you
should be OK. Have fun.

Backgrounds set from a web page use the name Internet Explorer Wallpaper.

It may be a desktop item in which case it's on the original web server, though you would get IE's context menu when r/c it unless it's a picture only. Unlock desktop items, hover over it and the title bar will appear and you can close it.

For future reference with all the lingo, that is not a desktop wallpaper.
That is a desktop item. These are very different things and have different
ways to turn them off or change them.
