When I changed my user account from Administrator level to Power User, I
was unable to logon to Windows XP Pro from the Welcome Screen.

The logon seemed to hang, I heard a sound like a program had tried to
load but failed, and then I received an error message stating
"C:\documents and settings\steve\desktop is not accessible. Access is
denied." Then I would get a desktop with 2 shortcuts and nothing else. A
lot of running processes in my system tray were not there as they
usually are.

When I change back to the Administrator group, I am again able to logon.

I changed 3 other family members from Admins to Power Users and they
have no problems logging on.

Perhaps my personal settings include a program that requires Admin
rights in order to load?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Steve

things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without any purpose,
which is the way it really is as far as I can tell. It doesn't frighten me.

Did you make your profile folder private? If so, when you change your
rights, that would destroy your access rights to your own profile.
Right-click C:\Documents and Settings\Steve, click Properties, click the
Sharing tab, and make sure Make Folder Private is not checked.
