Desktop Icons

I am unable to double click the icons that are on my desktop. I am currently using a Latitude D600 with an external monitor, but just last week I was able to double click on any Icon on my desktop, but now none of them work

Any suggestions????
 
go to control panel and click on the mouse icon then choose appropriate box for whatever function u choose to have
