Don't know if anyone can help, but I figured it's worth a try. I recently
reinstalled xp profesional on my computer. I didn't have any viruses or
spyware, etc. but I tried a new progam that was suppose to help my computer
to run better and clean up old files and registry. well long story short, I
didn't know exactly what I was doing and had to reinstall. after install,
some of my dektop icons have a white background, my computer, recycle bin, my
documents, and any new folder I create, ie and some other where like that,
but I was albe to change them by the change icon option and puttintg it back
to the original, I've tried a million things to get rid of the white behind
recyle bin, my documents, my computer, and fiels I created, but I cant' fix
it. someone please help

Maybe, right click on your desktop, Properties, Appearance, Advanced

Change your desktop color to match your background.

Control Panel-System-Advanced-Performance Settings.
Check "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" on the Visual
Effects tab

Hi,

Go to the Control Panel/System applet/Advanced tab, click on the performance
settings button. On the Visual Effects tab, scroll to near the bottom,
ensure that "use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" is checked.

Also, right click the desktop, choose 'arrange icons by', and make sure
'lock web items on the desktop' is not checked.
