Are you able to reinstall Internet Explorer?

Which version are you using of IE?

Do you have any right-click context menus on the Desktop or in the other
directories?

I am having similair issue with W2K Desktop, I had to disable active desktop
and change Folder Options to Classic Windows just to operate in Explorer as
right-click was not activiating drop down. This occured last week after
updating IE from v5 to v6 and installing SP4 for W2K Pro. Is this an IE v6
install issue or an ActiveX v9 issue (ugraded ActiveX to latest after IEv6
upgrade)?

Don't you mean DirectX & not ActiveX?

Scott,

You said your problem was simular, but how does it differ?

Yes, DirectX not ActiveX

Similiar for desktop icons can not be selected, dragged and set - mouse over
shows a O with slash through it.

Different because Active Desktop had to be turned off in order to even right
clickor launch any icon items in desktop or explorer.

I just got this problem myself. I know that we just applied all of
February's Windows updates over the past 2 days. Would those have anything
to do with it? I tried disabling active desktop, but that doesn't solve the
issue either.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Just for laughs I went to Remove/Change on IE 6 SP1 and did repair and viola,
everything is magically back in working order, even with Active Desktop
turned back on.

Well there you go. Make sure you never apply a Service Pack over that IE 6 or that entry in Add\Remove will disappear.
