I formatted my drives, installed W2k and everything is fine and dandy. Yet,
there is this small annoyance -- from day one, two icons showed up on the
desktop and I'm afraid of zapping them: Folder Settings and Desktop.ini .

I looked at the properties and Folder Settings is 634 bytes and the
attribute is Hidden; Desktop is 274 bytes and the attributes are Hidden and
Archive.

Is it safe to delete the files from the Desktop?
thanks
Roxy

They are protected system files and folders. Don't delete them.
go into folder options and click on the view tab
make sure the checkbox for "hide protected system files and folders" is
checked

Glen:
It worked. Yet, I, being a nosy-Windows-freak, wonder why they never showed
up before -- prior to my format-and-clean install -- because I've always had
easy access to hidden files and those two never popped up on the desktop.
Thanks. Roxy
