DESKTOP ICONS..WEBSITES

I have several shortcuts re:various websites on my desktop..

I, just recently, moved my computer.

Ever since, when I double click on the icon, the website does NOT open;
instead, I must right click on the icon, go to properties...copy the
address...

then, open INTERNET EXPLORER (via an icon on the desktop <which works>), and
paste the address in the address field.

WHY DO MY DESKTOP ICONS SUDDENLY FAIL TO WORK PROPERLY??

HOW IS THIS PROBLEM FIXED? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Have you tried re-creating any of the desktop shortcuts? Go to one of the websites, right click on the webpage and select Create Shortcut from the pop-up menu.

Go to the following website:

Windows XP File Assocation Fixes:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

Toward the bottom of the list, click on the link for:

"URL File Association Fix (Restores default associations for URL - Internet shortcuts)"

Download the .zip file. Unzip the file and double click the resulting ..reg file. Confirm the merge prompt.
