Desktop Icons size and position

I can't seem to position the desktop icons exactly where I want then to be,
seem to be
snapping to a grid, but I can't find any way to change the settings.

Also the desktop icons are rather large, any way to make them samller?

1) Right click desktop/View>uncheck Auto Arrange and Align to Grid
2) Click a blank area of the desktop, hold down CTRL on your keyboard, use
your mouse wheel to adjust icons to any size you like.

I seen your tip on adjusting icon size on desktop, THANKYOU. there large
size has driven me nuts since i installed vista.
