Desktop icons - remove solid background

adam

To remove the solid background behind the text of a desktop item I go to:
"Performance Options" and I tick "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the
desktop"

Is there a way of removing the solid background AND the drop shadows?

Thanks

Ramesh,

That is exactly what is happening.
I clear the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop check box.

And, then the solid background appears behind the text.

What I realy want to achieve is to use a desktop picture and
1. Transparent background behind the icon text
2. No drop shadow

I know I can achieve this if I have a plain desktop. Is it possible to have
this with a windows desktop such as windows "bliss" etc.

Thanks
Adam

Adam,

From that article:

"This problem may also occur if you turn on the Lock Web Items on Desktop
feature."

Have you disabled that option?

I finally figured this one out! Right click on the Desktop (anywhere) and
click on "arrange icons by", then uncheck the line that says "lock web items
on desktop", which should currently be checked. This will immediately fix the
problem. Not sure why these Microsoft know-it-all's don't know the answer to
this one! Hope this helps you.
