Desktop Icons Overlap

My desktop icons overlap so it is difficult to determin which to click on. I
have tried changing the resolution but it has no effect. I tried
repositioning them and setting snap to grid but they eventually return to the
original position.

I'm running XP Pro and a 19" Acer LCD monitor.

Thank you,

Using "Large Icons"?
Sounds like it.

Either rest the icons to a normal size and reboot...
Or change the spacing around them:

Display properties control panel --> Appearance --> Advanced --> Item:
- Icon Spacing (Horizontal)
- Icon Spacing (Vertical)

You may have to reboot between tests to get it to test. Matter of fact - if
you just changed to large icons/large text - you may want to reboot and log
back in to make sure it isn't all working okay anyway...

You can also try right clicking on the Desktop, Arrange Icons by, Align to
Grid

One thing I didn't see was reduction of the number of icons. Can you
eliminate any shortcuts on there ? If not, create a folder or folders and
move similar ones, (programs, documents, internet shortcuts, etc) into
it/them. Right-click desktop>New>Folder, then name it and drag items in.

My icons are quite large to be seen easily; this folder idea has worked very
well for me.
