Desktop Icons no longer transparent

Can anyone tell my why my desktop icons are nolonger
transparent?
I just noticed it today and am baffled as to why. I am
using the standard WinXP theme.

This had happened to me once ... I rectified it by unchecking Control
Panel -> Display -> Desktop -> Customise Desktop -> Web -> Lock Desktop
Items.

Hi Chris,

Start/Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings/ Visual
Effects/"Use drop shadows for icon labels on the Desktop"

Also:

Right click the desktop and select Arrange Icons by. Towards the bottom of
that list, uncheck "Lock web items on the desktop."
