Icon transparency in desktop

W

wal

I currently have a .jpg photograph used as my desktop background. The
background of the text portion of my desktop icons is transparent,
which is what I want.

I tried to use a different photograph, a .png, as a different desktop
background (theme). This time, the background of the text portion of
the icons appeared as the default background color, rather than
transparent.

I have all the settings required for transparency, as explained in
other posts to this group, in place.

Is it simply .jpg vs. .png? If so, can I save a .png picture as
a .jpg? This doesn't seem possible in Office Picture Manager, and I
don't have anything fancier in the way of photo software.

Thanks.

Yes. If you choose Png Or html then you cant make the icon text transparent. If you
want to use the image then convert it to JPG.

Use free http://IrfanView.com
