Desktop Icon missing and empty

Hi;

Appreciate if someone could help me urgently.

I lost all my programs icon in the desktop. However, when I log in to the
save mode, I can see all of them. The only option that I can see after I
login to the Windows is to click on the Ctrl ALT Del, click on New Task, if I
browse it to the desktop, I can see the desktop contents there.

Can anyone help me with this? FYI, the taskbar is missing as well.

What happens if your try to run Explorer.exe as a new task ?

Hi John;

Nothing happens after I key in Explorer.exe in the New Task field.
I cam only see an empty desktop(with wallpaper only) and the Windows task
Manager screen (As I click on the CTRL ALT DEL to get the New Task screen
just now)

Please help.

I would try runing sfc /scannow
