Desktop font WAY WAY BIG

My son was playing some game and it either bombed or he turned off the game
in the middle. The game has a zoom feature. Now when the desktop comes up I
only see the START ICON, it almost fills the hole screen and the cursor is
large too.

How can I get into a setup window and put the monitor on its original
settings. And what probably are those settings.

Right click on desktop, go to appearance tab, font size normal, windows
theme standard. Go from there. Also check settings tab/advanced

Boot into the safe mode (tapping the F8 as the computer boots up)
Then use system restore to go back to a date before the problem.

you can also right click on the desktop and select properties. go to
settings, then advance and see if the dpi has been set to a large number.
try 96 dpi.
