Hi,

Is there an equivalent to the W98SE button to minimize
everything and display the desktop in XP Home? I haven't
been able to locate anything...

Hi Leland,

Are you using Quick Launch? If not, right click the Taskbar, Toolbars,
Quick Launch.

This utility will restore it for you, if you are already using QL:

Repair/Customize Quick Launch, Taskbar and Notification Area

If you prefer to make the edit manually or individually:

Manual Edit:

Copy and paste the five lines below into Notepad.

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Then save it as Show Desktop.scf and drag it to your quick launch bar.

Automated Edit:

Restore/Add Show Desktop to Quick Launch (Line 61)

Right-click Taskbar > Toolbars > QuickLaunch.

Alternately, search for the file named showdesktop.scf in your computer by
logging in as administrator. Every user has a copy of this file. Copy it to
your userprofile path here:

C:\Documents and Settings\<<YOUR USER NAME>>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

Hi

Right click on the Taskbar and select Toolbars>Quick Launch. There is an icon there for 'Show Desktop'.

If you already have the Quick Launch Bar visible, try here:

Line 61 - right hand side.
