I'm trying to set a picture as my background image on my desktop, and anytime
I try to do it, the dialog boxes in question either freeze or completely
disappear!
What I'm doing is this:
As I try to scroll through that folder, the entire dialog (down to the
Display Properties window) will either freeze, forcing either a restart of
explorer.exe or of my computer itself), or simply disappear!
Some items to note:
Anything else I can do to try to fix this? It has become rather irritating!

What I'm doing is this:
Open Display Properties
Open Desktop tab
Click "Browse..." button
Navigate to My Pictures and down a couple sub-folders

Some items to note:
Thumbnail caching is disabled (was enabled, disabled to test, still does it)
All picture windows are in thumbnail view
Some file names are pretty long
Already tried the DEP trick, and Photoshop is not set to open JPG/GIF files by default (mentioned this because of other threads on other sites I've read)
System Restore won't let me restore to previous points for some reason
