Windows XP Desktop background gone black!

Hello

The background display in my main user area has gone black with only the icons visible. When trying to click on main area to access desktop settings, only a dark windows shows. This problem doesnt happen on other user accounts.

I have tried changing settings in safe mode but no luck.

Is there a way to change desktop settings from another user account ?
or is there another way to do this.

Start>Settings>control panel>display> desktop change to whatever?

Hi Itsme and thx for your reply.
Cant really do this since I cant access the display settings due to the fact that everything except icons is black.
My query was whether its possible to change the display settings when logged in as a different user or by changing something in safe mode.
