Desktop background alternates between white and beige

Hello,

After startup a few days ago, I noticed my desktop background ("Azul") had changed to a blank white background, alternating to a light tan, then back again, irregularly, sometimes three to five seconds, sometimes much longer. All my desktop icons are visible and function, and in fact, there are no other operating, performance, or other appearance issues with my computer, only the annoying desktop that flutters between white and beige. No screensaver is running.

During a normal shutdown, I do see a two or three second glimpse of the "Bliss" background (green, rolling hills), but without the Desktop icons.

"Azul" and "Bliss" still are available as optional backgrounds, and are displayed on the miniature computer in the Display Desktop Tab, but even after I try selecting them (or any otherr) and apply the change, the background remains blank.

After reading some of the other comments here, I also discovered I do NOT have a "Web" tab in the Display Properties panel (Themes, Desktop, Screen Saver, Appearance, Settings are there and function). I've went to Kelly's Korner (well-organized site, Kelly), to download various display tweaks, especially three (lines 177, 227, and 285 on her website), but still with no change to the desktop background. I verified the registry values were, in fact, added with essentially "zero" values after the tweaks were merged.

Again, there doesn't appear to be any other issues with performance of my machine, except for this annoying, alternating white to tan, blank background, only on the Desktop.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks, Ed.)

As for this issue, I have seen this behavior if you have modified the
display setting via Accessibility. And also from third party desktop
switchers that don't have any choices selected for it to properly change to.
Am leaning more toward the latter as your Web tab is also missing. This is
also a sign of having used and/or are using a third party desktop manager.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Dear Kelly,

Thanks for responding.

I didn't modify any settings via Accessibility--I don't need any of those features--and it appears those options are de-selected.

I do have an NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager running for my 17" DELL flat panel display, but I haven't touched any of those settings in months. The settings I'm familiar with look like they have the correct selections.
