Desk top

I had a pop up come up on my computer desktop. It won't let me delete it. I
can't even find it on my comp. I have tried to change the desk top back to
what was originally on it but it will not apply. If anyone has any
suggestion I would appreciate it.

uhm, you might want to get one of those "ad-ware remover" such as Ad-Aware or
Spybot S&D. I believe both are free. but I have unpleasant experience with
both programs and now I'm using Webroot's Spy Sweeper which works great! it
even found a keylogger program that has never been found by both Ad-Aware &
Spybot. so, it's your choice ^_^

gysca,

I have spybot, but it did not take care of the problem. I have downloaded
products that say they are free. They find problems but won't remove them
unless you buy their product. Is there a web adress that you would recomment?

I use all of these...

Download, install, run, update and run again; one or all. They are all
good, FREE utilities. Make sure you update every program, even if you
just downloaded it. You must have the latest updates. Without updates,
you have a gun without ammo. You also need to use more than one
anti scumware program. One program will *not* catch everything.

1) CWShredder ver. 1.59 direct download:

1a) CWShredder ver. 2.0 direct download:

ever being installed.

Wesley,
I tried a number of different spyware products that you suggested. One of
them (I don't remember which) worked, but it has now left my desktop white.
The icons are still there, and the screen saver pictures will work, but It
will not default back to my original desk top background. It just stays
white. Any suggestions. This must have been one very nasty virus. Usually
the CW Shredder and the System Security Suite will take care of any virus'
that come along but for whatever reason nothing worked this time. I sure
appreciate your knowledge and your willingness to share it.

Check your settings here >>>

Right click Desktop | Properties | Desktop tab | Color

Or...

Right click Desktop | Properties | Appearance tab |
Advanced button | Under Item: click the V to expand the menu |
Scroll down and select Desktop

Color:
[[Click to select a color to use on your desktop, or customize a new color.
If you did not select a background, the color will cover your entire
desktop. If you selected a background and chose Center in the Position list
box, the color fills the space around the background.]]
