Deploying .NET CF 2.0 SP1 to Audiovox SMT5600

Hi everyone,

I am currently working on several embedded applications using .NET Compact
Framework 2.0 (VS 2005). So far I have only been testing my applications
inside WM 5.0 emulators and a couple of WM 5.0 devices.

Following the recent release of .NET CF 2.0 SP1, I have been trying to
deploy the framework to an unlocket Audiovox SMT5600 smartphone running
Windows Mobile 2003 SE so that we can also support the WM 2003 platform for
our applications thus addressing a wider audience.

Here's where my problem starts. I successfully uninstalled .NET CF 2.0 from
my computer and replaced it with 2.0 SP1. This automatically put the
deployment files in the ActiveSync installation queue to be installed the
next time my smartphone is connected. Upon connecting my Smartphone,
ActiveSync immediately sends the files to the phone and then I receive a
notification window on the phone stating that the application (.NET CF 2.0
SP1) was not designed for that operating system. It still gives me the chance
to continue, but no matter how many times I select OK to continue, it keeps
failing and presents me with the same warning.

It is to my understanding that deploying .NET CF 2.0 SP1 to a Windows Mobile
2003 SE smartphone should be a supported scenario. Is there anything that I'm
doing wrong, or are there any steps I have to take prior to the deployment?

Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Emil,

Good find. I think that the listing of WM2003 Smartphone under Supported
Operating Systems is a typographical error. I am not aware of any support
for .NET CF 2.0 (or 2.0 SP1) on WM2003 / WM2003 SE Smartphone, although I may
stand corrected.
