I recently had a corrupted winsock after downloading and
installing the latest xp update. I got that fixed via
winsockfix. I used the Task Manager to help debug what
was going on and I noticed that the process dellmmkb.exe
started a few seconds after login and consumed my
processor for a couple minutes. I thought it was related
to no network connectivity, but continue to see this
behavior now that my network is working again. After the
couple minute hang, the system runs fine. Any idea
what's up?

Thanks...

Dellmmkb.exe is the driver for the Dell Multimedia Keyboard. It's actually
third-party software (created by Netropa) licensed by Dell. There's lots of
information about here, in the Dell Community Forum:
http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/search?q=dellmmkb.exe&x=8&y=11.

You should be able to uninstall the driver, if you wish, but you will lose
the functionality of the multimedia keys in your keyboard.
