installed programs. What do you plan on doing after you remove the
operating system?

If you are planning on installing a different operating system and need to
ask how to prepare the drive for that step, you have a lot of homework to
do first. In general - the setup routine for the new operating system
should include tools to do disk prep prior to its installation. If it does
not, you'll need to find suitable alternatives.
