Dell Optiplex 280 and Sysprep

P

Phillip Allen

I've been battling sysprep for a while, off and on. I've finally got
most of my machines, GX260, GX270, 600m, minitower 280 working. I'm
running into a problem on a SFF 280 and can't find any info anywhere.
I have added all the drivers, and sysprep starts, starts finding
drivers, installs the video drivers (I'm assuming that's where the
problem starts). After adding the video driver (Intel 915?) it finds
the plug and play monitor and sits there asking me to add new
hardware. At this point, the usb keyboard and mouse do not work. So
the machine just sits there for 10-15 minutes and finally reboots.
That's great and when it comes back up, everything is installed. That
10-15 minutes though is sure to cause someone to cut the machine off
and I'm not sure what would happen. Is there anyway around this?

I had similar issues on some of my Dell models (Precsion 360, 370). It
appeard to be cause by the audio drivers. I included audio drivers for
each model in my image and the issues has gone away.

For the "plug and play monitor" issues see this MS KB article:
