Dell Dimension blue screens after windows XP updates

Dell Dimension. Downloaded and installed Windows XP
updates. Rebooted machine and it makes it to the desktop
and then blue screens with the message Wywtem error
Multiple_IRP_complete_request and xxxstop:Oxoooooo44
(0x813FCD58,0x00001B90. I was able to start it in safe
mode and did a system restore twice to earlier dates with
no change in this problem. Currently I am trying to
uninstall the 9 windows updates that appear in add/remove
programs. I did notice that after attempting the system
restore, the number of windows update in the add/remove
window went to sixteen. Can find no reference to this
problem in either MS or Dell. Any suggestions greatly
appreciated.
