I

Ironfan

- I am getting emails to just one adressee returned by mail daemon for the
reason
5.4.7 - Delivery expired (message too old) [default] 451 - '4.7.7 Excessive
userid unknowns from 212 74 100.54'

Any idea what this means and how do I avoid it in future?
Ironfan

Is it someone you sent mail to? If it's the result of spam faking your
address, don't worry about it. If you are actually sending the message and
get that back, your mail server is blacklisted on the recipients server for
excessive backscatter or sending spam. Bring it to the attention of your
email admin.

Many thanks!
Contacted my email admin who subsequently discovered that my IP address was
blacklisted with the organisation concerned. They requested the blacklisting
to be removed and emails are now getting through.

It's happening again!. When I send emails to my sister-in-law in the USA I
get them returned "5.1.0 - Unknown address error 553-'5.3.0 nlpi084 -
n3AALWiZ024170, DNSBL:ATTRBL 521< 212.74.100.48
_is_blocked.__For_information_see_http://att.net/blocks'

As far as I can see the IP address 212.74.100.48 is not mine. I have
contacted my email administrator (Tiscali) who tell me that they have applied
for the blacklisting to be removed and then everything works ok for a few
days - emails get through to sister-in-law. But then the problem starts
again. Why does the blacklisting get re-imposed?
Any help will be appreciated

After a 2-month lapse for this thread, start a NEW thread to discuss the
NEW incident.

Your sister-in-law's e-mail provider is blacklisting your mail server,
not you.

212.74.100.4 = mk-listserv-2.mail.uk.tiscali.com

As long as spam continues to spew out of Tiscali's mail servers, they
will continue getting blacklisted.

I suspect it is. 212.74.100.48 is in Tiscali's address space. A WHOIS of
that address shows:
