Deliberate non-printing text

I am trying to place some text into a document/template which will tell
people to read/change a specific part of the document. I would like this
text to appear on the screen but not print out. Kinda like a sticky note I
suppose. I thought I could do this with "comment" but this appears to print
out as well. Any ideas if word2003 is able to do this? Thanks

You can use hidden text but it takes up physical space in the document.

Unfortunately this hides the text completely. I was hoping it would appear on
the screen like the comment field without printing out.

You can set hidden text to show, but not to print. See the View and Print
tabs of Tools | Options.

However, you can only set it on your computer--forcing those settings to
travel with the document is unlikely to work very well.

1. To show Hidden text you can click a Show/Hide icon (like a back to front
letter P) on the toolbar, this will show or hide formatting marks AND any
hidden text.

2. Re using an inserted comment: if you click View/Markup this toggles
between displaying (and printing) the comment and not displaying or printing
the comment.

I do agree though that this is a clumsy way of doing it. I have often
wanted to insert a non-printing comment, like a post it note. You'll
probably find there are little programs/utilities to do this.
