Deletion of corrupt Index.dat file in windows Xp

Hi

can anyone advise how to delete the index.dat file in
internet explorer 6 \ windows xp so that it can be
recreated.

File has become corrupted.
 
To delete History\index.dat (the one most often deleted) delete the History
folder.

To delete the index.dat file in Cookies or Temporary Internet Files, you
would delete that folder.
