deleting text from a table

i've been trying to figure this out and wasted ten minutes already. how do i
delete text from a table? I want to keep the table format -- just remove the
text. Not borders. HELP HELP HELP

Select the part of the table you want to clear, and press the Delete
key. The table's cells, and any borders that are turned on, will still
be there (to remove the table itself or some part of it, use the
Delete command on the Table menu).

Select the content and press Delete. The table will remain. It's harder than
you might think to delete the actual table.
