Deleting Temporary Internet Files

P

PT

Over a period of several weeks of browsing, I accumulate hundreds of files
in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder. When I try to delete them all,
the system hangs. On further investigation, I find that I can selectively
delete most of the files in the normal way. But there are perhaps a dozen
or so of the files will not delete. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to
these tenacious files. The majority are .gif, but some have no extension.

Why the delete problem? Any way to get rid of these stragglers?

"Hangs"...

#1 - decrease the size of your TIFs..
#2 - delete it properly and wait the 10 to 30 minutes it may take if your
TIF size was set to some ridiculous size. I have seen settings in the 20GB
range - well I think anything over 512MB is a bit large and ridiculous.

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and shrink the size it stores to a
size between 128MB and 512MB..

- Open ONE copy of Internet Explorer.
- Select TOOLS -> Internet Options.
- Under the General tab in the "Temporary Internet Files" section, do the
following:
- Click on "Delete Cookies" (click OK)
- Click on "Settings" and change the "Amount of disk space to use:" to
something between 128MB and 512MB. (Betting it is MUCH larger right
now.)
- Click OK.
- Click on "Delete Files" and select to "Delete all offline contents"
(the checkbox) and click OK. (If you had a LOT, this could take 2-10
minutes or more.)
- Once it is done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, re-open Internet
Explorer.

#3 - download/install/run and clean with CrapCleaner.
