Deleting IntExp "index.dat" with built-in WinXP settings (NAT with extra washer tools) possible ?

As well known Internet Explorer creates an index.dat called index file.
This file can be washed (on shutdown) by a couple of availabe additional washer/wiping tools.

However is this washing/wiping also possible with WinXP built-in settings ?

No and why would you want to.

Work around; What you can do is login as an administrator but not your own
account, navigate yourself to your local settings where it is somewhere
under there, and delete it. When you log back in to your own account it will
get re-created. As you've seen WinXP locks the file, even in safe mode with
command prompt. No built in WinXP functionality to do this.

Reasons vary and there are many of them. Some say, why have this index.dat
file? Is it necessary? Many say no to both so they diligently flush it. Some
say, why can't I just delete this file? or even, why can't I delete the
contents of the file? Or, why can't I delete some of this file's contents?
And regarding such questions some go on to ask, so why does Windows lock
this file? This file that has record of my internet browsing, why lock it? I
can clear Firefox, I can clear Opera, why not this one?

Some people David, like alot of us, may have something to hide. Rather than
hide it, they delete it and leave it to the power denial holds.

There's 2 Australian cents for ya' David, all for 1 Australian cent. Pity
they took both coins out of circulation otherwise I could come good my lip
service.
