Mr. Newt

Hi y'all,

I've done a little searching in the KB and didn't find anything to help me
with my problem. I've even looked here and nada. Any way, I cannot delete
nor open some files and folders on one of my drives. I have admin rights.
I've tried safe mode, tried command prompt while explorer is closed (a
suggestion from someone here). I've tried everything I can think of. Any
ideas?

Thanks,

Robert

Are they just normal files and folders? Or ones with long weird names
like crackers use to store their files after compromising your computer?

You have admin rights but did you take ownership of the files? Ran chkdsk
to make sure the drive's filesystem is okay? Can you copy the files? You
could always delete them either using the short 8.3 name from a command
window or using their UNC name. Failing that you could covert the drive
to FAT32 with one of the 3rd party tools like Paragon Partition Manager,
BootitNG, or Symantec's Partition Magic.

Try going to run, type:diskmgmt.msc In msc,L.click the drive, then go to
actions,
all,select,make drive active,close out..

Most of the files are actually folders (presumably with files in them).
I've tried command prompt, I've tried Disk Management. Nothing has worked
so far. Rest of the disk is fine. Checking the disk says it's okay.

And what the f*** has that got to do with the OP's problem?!

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but I am going to post the below after
every post made by Andrew the Eejit to warn people against following his
'advice'. He doesn't have a clue what he's on about and he appears to be on
a mission to destroy as many computers as he possibly can.

You are a ****wit. A moronic, clueless, cretinous, imbecilic, idiotic,
stupid, thick-headed, numb-skulled dickwad. When are you going to get it
into your pea-sized brain that, when it comes to anything technological, a
three-year-old has more idea than you do?! I have just Googled for you at
your current address and, since you started posting, I haven't seen a single
post that: -
a) Makes sense

b) Shows any kind of technical aptitude* whatsoever

c) Has been researched

*That's a very big word for you. You may need to avail yourself of a
dictionary (of course, I'm making a huge assumption that you actually know
what one is...)

Welcome to the Moron of the Month Award's permanent Hall of Shame. Others'
stays might be brief but, by displaying total and utter ineptitude and
complete unwillingness to learn, you have proven that you're so devoid of
clue that, until you learn, you deserve a wall all to yourself.

I wonder how many systems you've destroyed with your 'advice'? One day,
someone's going to sue you because they believed you knew what you were on
about.

Now, I suggest you either go on a course to learn at least the basics and
then, when you have proven you have a clue, you may return; or, if you don't
wish to do that don't bother ever posting here again because, from now on,
every dangerous and misleading post you make is being reported to MS. OTOH,
there is evidence that you wish to deliberately cause harm: -

1) You always post via the CDO (which means only MS can log your IP)

2) You never return to any thread in which you've posted.

3) Your 'advice', as well as being dangerous, is so poorly written that
it could be easily misconstrued. I suggest you take remedial English along
with that computer class. You obviously never attended any English lessons
at school (though I'm making another big assumption that you ever went to
school...)

So, Andrew, your choice. You either put up and take some advice - or you
shut up and never post again. It's entirely up to you.

To the OP, *PLEASE* don't listen to him. This isn't a personal crusade
against Andrew (OK, that's a lie, it is) but others will confirm that he's
*DANGEROUS*. DO NOT FOLLOW ANYTHING HE SAYS.

Thanks for the help people. Didn't think about the ownership issue (and
didn't realize I had to go in in safe mode to get it, either). Problem
solved. And, Miss Perspicacia Tick, don't worry, I know enough to know when
someone doesn't know what they're talking about. Again, thanks.

Robert
