Deleting file

My computer wont let me close, log of or shut down. Its keeps on coming up with a message saying that windows is currently deleting a file, and i am to close down windows or stay on the computer until it has deleted the file. How do i get it to log off?
 
'Hold' in the on/off button until the
computer shuts down. This will not
harm the machine or its software.
