why does sometime deleting a file on windows xp take a while? the
deleting dialog box stays there for 10 to 30 seconds even when deleting
one file!

Is it because it is uploading it back to bill gate's computer or it's
just cascade deleting related files on the internet?

just curious!

LOL, it is probably removing it from the indexing service.
Maybe it's a big file & it takes a while...but if you don't have your
aluminum foil beanie on, it WILL read the contents of your brain and upload
it to Bill & Crew!

If its financial information or embarrassing photos*, it usually comes
here for us to have a good chuckle.

It may also be waiting for another file to let go of what you're using.
Or your system may be overloaded and busy trying to do other things.

*PS you should try not to squint
