deleting emails

Is there an easy way of deleting many emails at a time. For instance,
holding down "control" key and scrolling down?

You can select many emails by holding down Control as you click them....

Click the first, hold Shift and click another and all the messages between
the two will be selected. Alternatively, you can click one and then
CTRL-click others to select individual items in a non-contiguous selection.
This is exactly how most Windows applications work.
