deleting application file

Lilly

Hello to everyone.

I downloaded several new screensavers for my XP system,
but when a couple of them downloaded, it says the files
are 0KB. I later found that my Zone Alarm was
interfering with these downloads. After disabling ZA, I
was able to redownload the screensavers correctly. My
problem is that I can't delete the original (incomplete,
I guess) downloads. The 2 files read as applications and
each is 0KB big. When I try to delete them, I get an
error message saying that they are in use. I've tried to
delete them in safe mode, but I get the same error
message. I've run antivirus and spybot, but both show up
with nothing. Any suggestions as to how to delete
these 'empty' file apps would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Lilly

Thanks for the suggestion, but it won't let me rename.
It says it's in use. Further, if I right click and
examine the properties for these files, they are both
listing as applications.

Rename, reboot, delete. This will work if they are opened as applications.
