deleting a file thats protected

|i uninstalled my yahoo instant messenger b/c it was messing up, i then went
| to delete the Yahoo! folder frm under program files, before
re-installing...
| but it will not delete file named "ymmapi.dll" says its in use or
| protected... how do i get this off my comp if it wont let me delete it? i
| think its corupted b/c my YIM messes up and even when i reinstall it b/c i

Try deleting it from safe mode. Reboot the computer, just as the BIOS
screen disappears repeatedly tap the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu
appears. Choose Safe Mode, and then login to an account with administrator
privileges. Then delete the file. If that doesn't work see this:
