I wanted to backup my user files (in my case Rob) by loading everything onto
a flashdrive and a DVD both. The files are "documents", "contacts",
"pictures", "desktop" and etc. So, to make it easier to dump onto external
sources I made an "All-in-one" file by copying everything and putting it
into this catch all file. Now I think have dual everything is causing
problems and I want to get rid of the all in one file, but it won't let me
do it.

How can I delete these duplicate files?

You likely don't have two of anything; Vista keeps a set of 'links' that
aren't actually files, although they have the same names and appear to be
the same. I'm not techie enough to explain it to you, so perhaps someone
else will, but those links are what you are likely seeing.
