Deleteing a line by Hi-liting

Icannot seem to delete a line when hi-liting it and then hitting the delete
key, it will not work. I have to go to edit and clear or otherwise backspace.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | General | uncheck the two
boxes for WordPerfect help and navigation | OK.
