deleted partition

I was trying to reinstall windows xp when I deleted the partition. There was enough disc space to do a second installation but now I have no access to my old files and the original installation no longer runs. Can I get to my old files? Also, how do I reformat the disc and start from scratch.

If the files you need on the partition you deleted then I believe you are
out of luck. To start from scratch just change your bios to boot from the
XP cd and follow the prompts. You can create and format partitions before
you do the install with the cd boot.
