Deleted folder shows 6000, cant delete them?

As I delete junk mail, the counter on my deleted items folder shows (6000+)
but when I click and open the folder it is empty. No messages appear in the
fields? I right click to "empty folder" and get an unknown error? Where are
these deleted items going or how can I clear the deleted item count? Thanks
for any help you can provide!!!

This might be caused by Windows Mail's nasty, and unexplained, habit of creating
0-byte files.

You can safely go to Window Mail folders in Windows Explorer and safely delete
all the 0-byte files in all the folders. Or, Steve Cochran's WMUtil program
(free) provides a very handy button to remove these 0-byte files.
