When I had Outlook Express I used 4 different email addresses. When I
transferred my files to the laptop running Vista with Windows Mail, every
email I sent was sent 4 times and I received 4 incoming emails for everyone
that was sent to me. I resolved that issue by deleting all but one of the
addresses/identities/accounts in both windows Mail and through my ISP. A
couple of months ago, people told me that my mail was bouncing with the
message that my account was over quota. I have discovered that the bouncing
accounts are the 3 addresses that I deleted. The address I kept is getting
emails just fine, but those who send me emails get a message that their email
was undeliverable to those 3 other addresses, even though they didn't send
the message to any of the addresses listed in the message. I have spoken to
a CSR at my ISP and they said it wasn't an ISP problem because they only show
the one address. To make things even a bit more confusing is that I recently
had to get a new laptop and did not transfer any files - started from scratch
on this one, but I have the same problem. How do I permantly delete those
phantom addresses??
