Delete Windows Update?

I installed the Microsoft Update program that checks for the things that
Windows Updated did plus other MS program updates.

Is it now safe for me to delete the Windows Update program and, if so,
how? I don't see it listed in Add/Remove Programs or having its own
uninstall option somewhere.

Windows/Microsoft Update check for and install updates on your computer.
Since Updates come out at least monthly, you need that functionality.

But since Windows Update is included with Windows, I think you are referring
to another program.
Exactly what is the program?

Windows Update came figured with the XP computer. But when you launch
it, the update webpage site shows an update is available to Microsoft
Update. Microsoft Update does everything that Windows update does in
notifying about updates to the Windows OS plus provides alerts for
updates to other Microsoft programs, like Office.

So, now that I also have the Microsoft Update program installed do I
still need to keep the Windows Update program installed too, or can it
safely be removed somehow. I don't see the reason for keeping the
Windows Update program installed if I am from now on going to be using
the Microsoft Update program instead.

Now I understand.
There is really nothing to uninstall.
You may still have an old link "Windows Update" as well as the new
"Microsoft Update", but they both go to the same place.
I deleted the link for Windows Update since they are redundant.

Thank you. That's what I thought.

I did delete the Windows Update link shortcut that appears on the Start
menu, but it comes back each time I reboot. No big deal. I can live
with that.
