Delete Windows Defender ?

Can I damage my XP Pro Operating System if I delete Windows Defender.
Also, is it normal for Windows Defender to have Multiple Checkpoints every
few minutes?
 
By delete I hope you mean uninstall
If by checkpoints you mean scans, it depends how you set it up
 
Well I just tested it now.
Verified checkpoints existed.
Deleted Windows Defender (last beta version before the final release)
Verified Checkpoints - They are still there.
Shutdown and cold Boot and verify checkpoints - They are still there.
Installed latest version (1.1.1592.0).
